Russia’s defense minister has called his Turkish counterpart Hulusi Akar and informed that the grain agreement should “continue in the same way as before” as of Wednesday, according to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The agreement, which allows millions of tons of grain to leave Ukrainian ports, was brokered by the UN and Turkey. On Saturday, however, Russia pulled out, citing alleged Ukrainian attacks on Crimea.

According to Erdogan, deliveries to countries in Africa must be prioritized.
