Turkey reopens its embassy in Damascus

The embassy’s activities in the Syrian capital were paused twelve years ago, as a result of the security situation.

Now the foreign minister announces that the embassy is open from Saturday, and that a newly appointed delegation went to Damascus on Friday, in an interview with the Turkish television channel NTV.

– The work will be underway from tomorrow, says Fidan.

The Turkish Embassy in Damascus suspended all operations in 2012 due to the security situation. All diplomatic personnel were then called back to Turkey.
