Turkey ready to reopen its embassy in Syria | News in brief

The embassy has been closed for more than ten years.

Turkey has appointed a new ambassador to its Damascus embassy in Syria, which has been closed for years, Anadolu news agency reported on Thursday.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidani according to Turkey plans to reopen its embassy as soon as the situation allows it.

He was appointed as a temporary administrator for Syria Burhan Köroğlu. Anadolu did not say when Köroğlu will start in Syria or how long his temporary appointment will last.

Turkey closed its Syrian embassy in March 2012.
