Important step on the road to NATO membership
The original plan was that after the debate the committee would have said yes or no to Swedish membership.
The vote in the foreign affairs committee is an important step on the way to full membership in NATO for Sweden.
To be signed by Erdogan
If there is a yes in the committee, the matter goes on to the great chamber of the parliament and then the protocol must be signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Turkey and Hungary are the countries that have not yet ratified Sweden’s membership application to the defense alliance.
A new vote may take place next week.
