After the E-Transit produced in Turkey, Ford E-Transit Custom will appear as one of the pioneers in the transformation of the brand in Europe.
E-Transit, which went down in history as the first commercial vehicle produced in Turkey, is stepping on a new page in its adventure that started in the mid-60s. With the model, which is a very important move for Ford, the transformation in the market will be answered in different ways. In addition to the standard versions of the Transit, we face a turning point with radical changes for the Custom family as well. The new Custom, which was launched last May, is a “candidate to sell passenger cars”, especially with its exterior design character. Özgür Yücetürk, Ford Turkey Business Unit Deputy General Manager, answered our questions about the new generation, in which Ford also includes an innovative approach such as a folding steering wheel that can be used as a table when desired. Speaking at the Ford Pro event, Yücetürk announced that Turkey sales for Ford E-Transit Custom are planned in two stages.
Internal combustion engine versions will come before Ford E-Transit Custom
Highlighting E-Transit Custom as the second important step of its brand in its electric light commercial product range, whose foundations were laid, Yücetürk stated that the first sales will start with diesel engine versions. We will have to wait an extra year for the electric package of the new Transit Custom, which we see will hit the roads of Turkey with diesel units in the first half of 2023. At this point, if an improvement step is not taken, E-Transit Custom will be available in the first quarter of 2024. This calendar is Volkswagen ID. It also draws attention as it is largely parallel to Buzz’s Turkey planning. E-Courier, which will be another important weapon of Ford at this point, will also be produced in the factory in Romania purchased by Otosan. Apart from commercial vehicles, Otosan is also preparing to manufacture the electric Puma here.
Ford includes a package that produces 217 PS of power and 415 Nm of torque in the engine compartment of the E-Transit Custom. With this engine, we see that the vehicle offers 1,100 kilograms of load carrying and 2,000 kilograms of load towing support. At the entry level of the family, there will be a version that offers 136 PS power. In order to use the space inside the vehicle in the best way on the loading side, special attention is paid to the battery placement. With the combination of a 74 kWh battery and motor positioned at the base, we see a range of 380 kilometers in WLTP standards for the E-Transit Custom. The E-Transit Custom’s battery pack supports fast charging up to 125 kW. Users will be able to bring the batteries of their vehicles from 15 percent to 80 percent in 41 minutes through such a source.

Özgür Yücetürk, who also spoke about the operational studies to the Pro event; “With Ford Pro, a holistic customer experience initiative, our leadership in the commercial vehicle market will be further strengthened by our leading role in the transformation of the segment. Our new generation vehicles will also be an important driving force in the realization of Ford Pro services with their connected technologies and user-oriented designs.” he stated. The Ford Pro brand, which was brought to life, also facilitates the transition of internal combustion engine vehicles in fleets to electric. In this context, smart telematics software in mixed fleets perfectly pairs charging management software with hardware and services, thus ensuring uninterrupted operation of mixed fleets.
