Turkey inflation rises to 735 in May At the highest

(Finance) – TheTurkish inflation continues to grow a May 2022scoring a + 73.50% on an annual basis, according to data communicated by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The figure compares with + 69.97% in April and with expectations for a higher increase of + 74.7%. This is the highest value since the end of 1998, therefore a record of the last 23 years. Month on month, consumer prices increased by 2.98%, against the + 4% expected by the market.

The lowest annual increase was + 19.81% in communication. Education with + 27.48%, clothing and footwear with + 29.80% and health with + 37.74%, were the other main groups in which low annual increases were made. On the other hand, transport with + 107.62%, the food and soft drinks with the + 91.63% and home furnishings and equipment with + 82.08% were the main groups in which high annual increases were achieved.
