Tunisian Minister of Health announced: Omicron detected in Turkey connecting passengers

The Omicron mutation of the coronavirus, which emerged in South Africa, also spread to Tunisia. In a statement, Tunisian Health Minister Ali Mrabet stated that an Omicron mutation was detected in a 23-year-old male passenger who came to Tunisia from Congo via Turkey.

Noting that the Covid-19 test performed in Tunisia was positive for the passenger in question, Mrabet announced that as a result of the examinations made after the test, the Omicron mutation was detected in the passenger.

Noting that the passenger is currently in quarantine, Mrabet praised Tunisia’s speed in detecting the mutation, noting that his country proved that it was fully prepared to deal with the epidemic and its consequences.
