Tuija Hyyrynen, Helmareite’s credit pack, reflects on the continuation of her career – “Quitting is an option”

Tuija Hyyrynen Helmareites credit pack reflects on the continuation of

Hyyry was not selected for the last two games of the World Cup qualifiers against Ireland and Sweden. The defender has negotiated with clubs, but may also end his career.

Behind him are five consecutive Italian championships in a Juventus shirt, the third prestigious championships of his career and well over 100 A national matches. The group of players for the World Cup qualifiers published at the beginning of the week was missing Tuija Hyyrynen name, although the list of merits is long.

The head coach Marko Saloranta justified leaving Hyyrynen aside by the fact that the 34-year-old fullback currently has no club and no training season.

Hyyrynen understands the reasoning well, but has not taken the pressure of looking for a club.

– At this age, you have to think about the next step quite carefully, and there is no rush to make decisions about the future. If a suitable place is found, I’m ready to leave on the same day, Hyyrynen assures.

Even if the player is not in a hurry, the top leagues in Europe will start soon. In Italy, the first round of Serie A will be played this coming weekend. In Germany and England, the ball will start rolling by mid-September.

Series seasons are underway in the Nordic countries and the United States.

According to Hyyrynen, negotiations have taken place “around the world”, but termination is also an option.

Korona, who got sick after the EC tournament in the summer, has forced him to stop, and on the other hand, the end of the contract with Juventus gave him the opportunity to spend the summer in peace.

– I have really enjoyed this first breather after going abroad. I have had time to see family and friends for the first time in almost 15 years, Hyyrynen says.

– There is also the possibility that I would end my career. Or I would go on one last adventure somewhere in the world.

“You have to take into account the overall picture of life”

The A national team still has the opportunity to find its way to the next round from the World Cup qualifying group, even though Sweden has already secured the group win and a direct place in the competition.

Against Ireland on the first day of September, a win is almost a must, although a draw might theoretically be enough. In the final game of the qualifiers, the opponent is Sweden, which is playing without a bet.

Second place in the group would bring a place in the further qualification. The final tournament spot would be the first for adult national teams.

Hyyrynen admits that playing in the World Cup arena would be a significant goal for him as well.

– The World Cup has been a dream of mine for a long time. It would be a really important thing for Finland and also for me.

At the moment, Hyyrynen cannot say which weighs more in the scales, quitting or continuing his career.

– There is enough age that you have to take into account the overall picture of life. Make decisions, but not only on futis terms, Hyyrynen states.

– I am completely open-minded in every direction. It seems that there are good options, whatever you decide.
