Donald Trump, who was elected the 47th President of the USA, gave an extensive interview to Time magazine, which selected him as “Person of the Year”, and made evaluations on many topics in foreign policy.
“I WANT EVERYTHING TO END”
Repeating his previous words that he wanted the “war” in Gaza to end, Trump said, “(Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu) knows that I want to end the war. I want everything to end. I don’t want people to be killed. Whether it’s Russia, Ukraine, Palestinians and Israelis, “And other groups in the Middle East.” he said.
Implying that he prioritized the Russia-Ukraine War over the problems in the Middle East, Trump said, “I think the Middle East is a problem that can be solved more easily than what is happening in Russia and Ukraine. I think the problems in the Middle East will be solved. From Russia-Ukraine “It’s more complex, but I think it can be solved more easily.” made his assessment.
“A SYSTEM THAT CAUSES TRAGEDY CANNOT CONTINUE”
“During your first term, your administration presented a comprehensive plan for a two-state solution. Do you still support that plan?” Answering the question, Trump said, “I support whatever is necessary to achieve peace. There are other ideas besides the two-state solution, but I support whatever is necessary to ensure not only peace, but also a permanent peace. A system that causes a tragedy every five years cannot continue.” he said.
When asked about Israel’s plan to “annex the occupied West Bank”, Trump avoided answering specifically about the West Bank and merely said that he wanted “peace” in the region through a two-state solution or other alternative solutions.
DECLARATION OF WAR WITH IRAN
On the other hand, regarding whether the USA will go to war with Iran, Trump said: “Anything can happen. The situation is very variable.” he commented.
When asked whether American billionaire Elon Musk, who will be in Trump’s close team, met with the Iranians on his behalf, Trump stated that he was not aware of such a meeting and that Musk did not give him such information.
NETANYAHU’S STATEMENT
When asked whether he trusts Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, with whom he had a checkered relationship before, Trump said, “I don’t trust anyone.” he replied.
