Trump’s possible vice president shot dead puppy

Kristi Noem, governor of the US state of South Dakota and a possible vice presidential candidate for Donald Trump, is in a bad mood.

In a forthcoming book, Noem tells how she killed an “untrainable” dog and an unruly goat in the same day, The Guardian reports.

Noem writes, among other things, that she “hated that dog”. The 14-month-old puppy Cricket, a shaggy-haired vorsteh breed, was “more than useless” as a hunting dog, according to Noem. Therefore, she took the puppy to a gravel pit and shot it dead.

That same day, she shot and killed an uncastrated goat, according to the memoir.

Criticism from various quarters

The data has drawn criticism from both Republicans and Democrats. Sarah Matthews, former deputy press secretary in Donald Trump’s White House who later turned her back on the ex-president, is one of many who reacted strongly to Noem’s apparent joy in shooting.

“I don’t understand why anyone would brag about this unless they’re sick in the head,” Matthews writes on X.
