Abortion rights have become one of the main themes of the presidential elections in November.
In the United States, the former president of the country and the presidential candidate of the Republican Party Donald Trump says he will vote in his home state of Florida against a law change that would bind the right to abortion to state law. At the same time, it would repeal the current abortion right limited to six weeks.
Trump’s comments have confused voters, as a day earlier he seemed to say that he would vote for the law change in an interview for NBC News.
– A person needs more time than six weeks, Trump told NBC at the time and said that the proposed law change was, on the other hand, too permissive.
However, pro-Trump and anti-abortion groups have strongly opposed the proposed law change.
In vitro fertilization has also come up in the election debate, because a day earlier Trump said that the government or insurance companies would pay for women’s IVF treatments, i.e. in vitro fertilization treatments, if he is elected president.
However, Trump’s proposal drew immediate criticism from abortion opponents, many of whom want to stop IVF treatments.
According to Reuters polls, Trump has lost popularity among women since the vice president Terrible Harris became the Democratic presidential candidate. Harris has also repeatedly spoken in favor of the right to abortion in his election campaign.
