The change in the voting system in Nebraska could have sunk Kamala Harris.
But now Donald Trump’s Republican aides are giving up.
– It is a deep disappointment for me, says Governor Jim Pillen.
In most of the US states, the “winner takes it all” when the electoral votes infocloseelectoral votes Electoral votes, or the electoral college, are part of the US electoral system used to elect the president and vice president. In the United States, citizens do not directly vote for the candidates for the presidency; instead, they vote for a group of representatives, called electors, who then vote for the president. to be distributed.
But in Nebraska and Maine, the electoral system looks different.
Only two of the five electoral votes in Nebraska go to the candidate with the most votes. The remaining three are awarded to the winner in each of the three constituencies.
Republicans have historically had a lot of support in Nebraska, but in the state’s largest city, Omaha, Democrats have enjoyed success in recent presidential elections.
And the polls show that a single electoral vote in the state could have been decisive for Kamala Harris to collect the 270 electoral votes needed to win the election.
Donald Trump has done everything to change that.

With the help of his campaign team, he has put heavy pressure on the Republican administration in Nebraska to change to a winner-takes-all system.
Maine Democrats, meanwhile, threatened to change their system to even the odds — but then they went on recess and the time for a law change ran out.
Something that caused Trump to increase the pressure even more, according to experts.
Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen, a Republican who supported Trump’s idea, has been trying to gather the 33 senatorial votes needed to change the rules, but announced Tuesday that he was unsuccessful.
– Unfortunately, we were able to persuade 33 senators. It is deeply disappointing to me and many others who have worked so hard to ensure that the voices of all Nebraskans are equally important,” he said, according to NBC.
As early as Monday evening, Trump sent signals that the race might be over.
“It would have been much better and cheaper for everyone. I LOVE OMAHA, and won there in 2016. Looks like I have to do it again!!!” he writes on Truth Social.
