Judge Juan M. Mechan decided that the verdict number will not be until after the election on November 26. Trump was originally scheduled to hear his sentence on the 18th of this month, which is just under two months before the election.
The case is about the payment of prank money to an adult entertainment star to Stormy Daniels and for concealing the matter in accounting during the 2016 presidential election.
In court, Trump’s lawyers demanded that the verdict be moved to the time after the election, because in their opinion, the verdict would have been about meddling in the election.
In the trial in May, Trump was found guilty of falsifying business information in the accounting, when they had concealed entertainment money paid to an adult entertainment star.
Also on Mechan’s table is the demand of Trump’s defense to overturn the verdict and dismiss the entire lawsuit, because according to them, Trump would have been immune from prosecution as president. Mechan plans to give its decision on this matter on November 12.
