IVF treatments are notoriously expensive and can cost tens of thousands of dollars.

Republican presidential candidate in the United States Donald Trump says that the government or insurance companies will pay for women’s IVF treatments, or in vitro fertilization treatments, if he is elected president.

“Your government will pay or your insurance company will be required to pay all the costs associated with IVF treatments,” the former president told supporters in Michigan.

However, Trump did not say how this would be financed or how it would work in practice. IVF treatments are notoriously expensive and can cost tens of thousands of dollars.

In in vitro fertilization, the normal practice is that the woman receives hormones to increase egg production. The doctor collects as many eggs as he can and fertilizes them in the laboratory.

Trump also said that new parents would be allowed to deduct newborn care expenses from their taxes.
