Trump: USA facing 20 percent EU tariffs

Trump USA facing 20 percent EU tariffs

The US introduces 20 percent customs on the EU goods, President Donald Trump said at a press conference. Trump also confirms that the United States introduces 25 percent customs on all foreign -built vehicles.

Trump Has flagged for these import duties against all countries that have, what he sees as, barriers to trade against the United States. They will be placed on top of the tariffs already introduced and announced since Trump’s access as president in January.

The president has also previously flagged that car dolls of 25 percent will be introduced on Thursday and that tariffs on car parts will be introduced on May 3.

“Taxpayers have been cheated for over 50 years,” Trump said at the press conference in the White House Rose Garden.

– But now it is over.

Other countries and the EU have notified to respond with their own customs. The uncertainty has had a major negative impact on the world’s stock exchanges for a possible global trade war.

Enters into force right away

According to the Trump government’s previous statement, the new tariffs will come into force right away.

At the same time, Finance Minister Scott Bessent said earlier on Wednesday that the made customs customs will constitute a roof, the highest possible level – which gives other countries the opportunity to take steps to lower the level.

Trump hopes with the help of customs secure US domestic production, but many economists warn that they create reduced GDP growth and higher inflation.

The president has named Wednesday to “Liberation Day” (Liberation Day).
