Twitter suspended his account after the January 2021 takeover of Congress. The company justified its decision with the risk of inciting violence in the future.

Twitter was a very important communication channel for Trump. After closing his account, he founded his own Truth social service.

Bought by Twitter last year Elon Musk returned this account to Trump in November.

Musk’s decision was preceded by a Twitter poll on restoring Trump’s account.

News agency AFP reported at the time that around 15 million Twitter users voted to restore Trump’s account. According to AFP, those who voted in favor of restoring the account had a narrow majority.

Trump’s account reappeared on the messaging service shortly after Musk’s announcement. Trump said at the time in the interviewthat he plans to stick with his own Truth Social platform and sees no reason to return to Twitter.
