He had escaped during his three previous criminal charges, but the billionaire candidate, accused of having tried to manipulate the results of the 2020 presidential election, did not cut this cliché with a potentially infamous effect.

Several of the 18 co-defendants of the former president had already passed this week by the county jail of Fulton, an overcrowded and notoriously unsanitary establishment. All were charged on August 14 with unlawful attempts to reverse the result of the 2020 election, won in this key state by current Democratic President Joe Biden.
The law on organized crime, used by the prosecutor to jointly charge the 19 defendants, provides for sentences of five to twenty years in prison. The defendants are expected to return to Atlanta, this time in court, the week of September 5, presumably to announce whether or not they plead guilty.
