Car and truck in collision – three to hospital

A truck and a car collided in Ruskträsk in Lycksele municipality at 11 o’clock in the morning.

Six people were involved, and three of them have been taken to hospital by ambulance.

The extent of the injuries is unclear, but no one should have life-threatening injuries.

The truck driver is suspected of gross negligence in traffic and the police have confiscated his driver’s license.

    – The accident must have happened at an intersection where the lorry must have turned in a traffic-dangerous way which caused this traffic accident, says Elin Andersson, press spokesperson at the police, to VK.

Hells Angels member drove illegally with ‘Nigerian license’

A member of the motorcycle gang Hells Angels is suspected of illegal driving and using a false document after being stopped with an invalid driver’s license while driving a truck in Gothenburg, writes news agency Siren.

The man has now requested that the Gothenburg District Court call a policeman in Nigeria as a witness, because he claims that he has a valid driver’s license issued in the country.

“I have had a Nigerian driver’s license, from Africa. I have exchanged it for a Romanian one as I live down in Romania, in Transylvania,” says the man in questioning with the police.

Romanian police have announced via Interpol that the Swede is not in their driver’s license register.

The trial is scheduled for May 2025.

But on site it turned out to be something else

    – It is rather a large number of empty beer cans, says Carina Skagerlind, press spokesperson at the police.

Schools in Finland can ban cell phones in lessons

The Finnish government has decided that mobile phones and similar technology should be banned in lessons, reports EPN.

The bill that will go before the Riksdag this spring, however, would allow mobile phones in lessons if the teacher gives permission to use them for teaching purposes.

A total ban was also on the table but was later dismissed.

    – Then you are faced with the question of where to draw the line, of how to deal with the school route, of where the telephones should be stored and how that storage is monitored, and so on, says Minister of Education Anders Adlercreutz (SFP).

If the bill passes, individual schools will be given the opportunity to introduce stricter order rules. They must define if and how mobile phones can be used during breaks and how they must be stored during the school day.

According to the proposal, the law will enter into force in August 2025.

Streams critical of the prescription system

Every year, roughly 100 people stay away from their sentenced prison sentences, shows a survey which P4 has done.

If a sentence is not carried out within a certain time, the Swedish legal system enables a person who is sentenced to prison to escape his sentence.

The government is currently working to change the limitation periods and their length.

Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer believes that people who are sentenced to prison should never escape, regardless of how long they stay away.

    – Basically, it is the police who must have good intelligence and, of course, if someone runs away or does not turn up, have various tools, not least with international cooperation with police authorities in other countries, simply let the people go and get them home and make sure that they are serving their sentences, says Gunnar Strömmer to P4.

Seven tons of cocaine buried – on a Spanish farm

Seven tons of cocaine stored in buried containers on a farm in Spain have been seized, Spanish authorities said on Monday.

The operation began on Friday when the Guardia Civil police discovered two suspicious motorboats at the Guadalquivir estuary and then followed the boats to Coria del Rio south of Seville.

The cocaine was stored in two containers hidden underground. According to the authorities, this is the largest crackdown of cocaine smuggled into southern Spain via motorboat.

Three suspected smugglers have been arrested and two stolen vehicles and three weapons – one of which is an AK-47 automatic weapon – have been seized.

Spain is a major gateway to Europe for drug traffickers. Much because of the proximity to Morocco, which is a major producer of cannabis, and the close ties to former colonies in Latin America, which is a major cocaine-producing region.
