A lawsuit of about 30 pages was reportedly filed in a court in the state of Florida. The lawsuit alleges attorney Cohen breached confidentiality and accuses Cohen of taking shots at Trump.
Cohen also allegedly violated contracts he signed while working for Trump.
The filing comes a week after Trump pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of felony accounting fraud with the intent to conceal more serious crimes in a New York court. The indictment concerns money paid to silence porn star Stephanie Clifford, known as Stormy Daniels. According to Fox News, Trump’s lawsuit against Cohen is not related to that case.
Michael Cohen has admitted paying out money to Clifford, but has since said Trump reimbursed him for the expenses. Cohen’s testimony was crucial to prosecutors in the indictment of Trump.
In 2018, Cohen was sentenced to three years in prison and to pay around half a million kroner in damages for, among other things, violating campaign finance laws.
