Trump in court – thousands gather to show their support

Donald Trump is in federal court in Miami, where he has been formally charged with handling hundreds of classified documents.
Shortly after nine o’clock Swedish time, the ex-president denied the accusations.

Former US President Donald Trump is in Miami where he has been formally charged with crimes. American media reports that Trump has been arrested, but in Swedish legal terminology there is no corresponding step, writes TT.

For example, Trump has not been detained and is free to travel.

Earlier in the evening, the ex-president made his way to the court in a motorcade.

“On the way to court. Witch hunt!” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.

Formally charged

Inside the court, Trump was formally charged. A judge briefed him on the total of 37 counts against Trump and his lawyers. Shortly after nine o’clock Swedish time, Donald Trump denied the accusations, American media reports.

An electronic fingerprint has been taken, but Trump did not have to submit to a so-called “mugshot”. Because cameras are not allowed in federal court, no photos of Trump are expected in the courtroom.

The indictment against Trump primarily concerns the former president’s handling of classified and sensitive government documents that have been stored at his Mar-a-Lago residence after his time in the White House.

Many journalists

Journalists from all over the world are on site in Miami, including TV4 News’ Tomas Kvarnkullen.

The number of journalists is believed to exceed the number of supporters of Donald Trump who made it to the courthouse to show their support for the former president.
