Trump bombs Iran – after rejection of nuclear weapons agreement

Says no to calls about nuclear programs • Does not exclude third term

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian opposes talks with the United States about the country’s nuclear program.
A statement that Donald Trump responds to – in threatening terms.
“If they do not agree on a settlement, it will be bombed, and the bombings will be to an extent they have never seen before,” the US president told NBC.

It was on Sunday that Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian responded to Donald Trump’s written proposal to negotiate a new agreement on Iran’s nuclear program. During his first term of office, Trump unilaterally retreated the United States from the 2015 agreement.

In the old agreement, it was agreed that US sanctions would be replaced by restrictions on Iran’s nuclear programs. Iran’s president is now opposing a new agreement, while the United States continues to attack the Iran -backed Huthi rebels.

– We do not want to avoid conversations, it is previous promise of promise that is the problem. The United States must prove that they can build up confidence, said Masoud Pezeshkian in a televised statement.

“The bombings will be to an extent they have never seen before”

The American president did not take the rejection easily and spoke on Sunday in an interview with NBC.

“If they do not agree on a settlement, it will be bombed, and the bombings will be to an extent they have never seen before,” he said.

In return, Iran threatens to attack US military bases if the threat is implemented, Reuters reports. What the United States and Donald Trump are afraid of is that several alarms have been received that Iran is making nuclear weapons, something that the regime in Tehran refuses.

Previously, Trump has threatened financial sanctions and military efforts against Iran if Tehran does not agree on a settlement on the country’s nuclear program.

Does not exclude third term

In the same interview with NBC, Trump gets asked if he will try to remain a third term, whereupon he replies that he “does not joke” and that “there are ways to do it”.

“Many people want me to do it, but I tell them that we have a long way to go, it is very early into the administration,” Donald Trump told NBC.

The US Constitution only allows one president to have two terms of office, but NBC mentions that he can, for example, have Vice President JD Vance candidate to president and then hand over the role to Trump, which Trump says “is a method”.

Changing the constitution can only be done if two -thirds of all states require it or if two -thirds of Congress vote for it. Both options are seen as very unlikely.
