Donald Trump is not allowed to speak about the daughter of the judge in charge of a trial against the ex-president in New York, according to court documents.

The decision, a so-called “gag order”, comes shortly after Trump made unfavorable statements about Judge Juan Merchan’s daughter on social media. As recently as last week, Trump was barred from speaking about witnesses, prosecutors, court staff and jurors connected to the trial.

“This pattern of attacking responsible jurists and attorneys assigned to his cases serves no legitimate purpose,” Merchan writes in his statement.

The lawsuit concerns, among other things, payments via Trump’s former lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen to porn star Stormy Daniels, with the requirement that she keep quiet about a sexual relationship with Trump.
