Former US President Donald Trump has regained access to his Facebook and Instagram accounts, parent company Meta confirms to CNBC.

Trump, who was suspended from the platforms after the January 2021 Congressional impeachment, has yet to post on either Facebook or Instagram. He has also not posted on his Twitter account, which he regained access to in November.

Trump has instead used his own platform Truth Social.

Meta announced last month that Donald Trump would gain access to his Instagram and Facebook accounts within the next few weeks. At the time, Nick Clegg, Meta’s head of global affairs, stated that new measures are being put in place to ensure he does not spread lies.

Trump announced last November that he is running as the Republican presidential candidate in the 2024 election.
