Former US President Donald Trump is appealing the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision barring him from running in the state’s primary election, writes The Washington Post.

Trump is now taking the matter further to the US Supreme Court in Washington DC with his appeal.

The Colorado Supreme Court has declared Trump ineligible because it believes that Trump can be considered complicit in the storming of Congress in January 2021. The storming took place in order to prevent Congress from finally determining the results of the presidential election two months earlier, in which Democrat Joe Biden won over Republican Trump.

The state of Maine has also decided that Trump’s name may not be on the ballot in the primary election before the presidential election this fall. Trump has also appealed that decision to the Maine Supreme Court.

Other states, such as California, have declared that Trump can run in the primary, writes Bloomberg.
