Navarro is convicted of refusing to cooperate with the committee that investigated the storming of Congress on January 6, 2021. He has persistently maintained after the 2020 presidential election that Trump’s loss was due to widespread election fraud.
Prosecutors have argued that Navarro acted as if he were above the law.
“The defendant chose to ally himself with former President Donald Trump instead of being questioned,” said prosecutor Elizabeth Aloi.
Navarro is the second Trump adviser to be convicted of contempt of Congress. Previously, Steve Bannon was sentenced to four months in prison.
Navarro’s sentence will be announced in January next year.
