Trulsfeber in Sweden – after the successes in the Olympics

After the Swedish Olympic successes in table tennis, there is Trulsfeber in the country. And now the demand for his famous hexagonal rack is increasing.
– We see an increased interest in both table tennis and the racket, says Felix Wirström, PR Manager at Stiga to TV4 Nyheterna.

Truls Möregårdh’s Olympics have been a formidable success. In the singles tournament, he took silver after, among other things, knocking out the Chinese world number one Wang Chuqin.

The men’s table tennis team managed to advance to the final against China after a sensational turnaround against Japan in the semis.

Once in the final, the measure did not hold up against the Chinese wall, and Kristian Karlsson, Anton Källberg and Truls Möregårdh had to settle for Olympic silver after pushing China’s table tennis men through three five-setters.

The Chinese men’s national team has never missed an Olympic gold medal, winning every World Cup since 2000.

Increased interest

Truls’ success is clearly felt at Stiga, which manufactures the hexagonal racket, so-called Cypershape, which Truls uses when he competes.

– We see an increased interest in both table tennis and Cybershape, says Felix Wirström PR Manager at Stiga.

According to Wirström, the company receives more and more questions about the product from curious consumers.

“Many laughed at me”

The hexagonal Cybershape racket has been developed by, among other things, the Royal Institute of Technology and attracted a lot of attention three years ago when it was used by Truls Möregårdh at the WC in Texas.

– Many people laughed at me. I had played a Champions League match with it five days before and I beat Patrick Franziska, who I then also beat in the WC. Then everyone saw that it is actually a very good racket, says Truls Möregårdh in one DN article.
