Truls to EC semi

A successful Saturday for Olympic medalist Truls Möregårdh. He made it to the semi-finals by winning against compatriot and friend Anton Källberg 4–2 in sets.

– I am completely exhausted. It was a sick match and a long and sick day, he says.

– To meet in a match like this, for it to be as even as it gets… It’s hard in many ways.

Doubles final

Earlier on Saturday, the duo played on the same side of the table.

After an impressive 3-0 double against Mattias Falck and Kristian Karlsson, European champions in 2022 and WC gold medalists in 2021, Möregårdh and Källberg are ready for Sunday’s EC final against the French brothers Alexis and Felix Lebrun.

– We both want to win the gold, then we fight side by side, says 27-year-old Källberg to SVT.

“My Year”

Möregårdh now has two silvers from the Olympics in Paris. And the 22-year-old is now expected to leave Austria with just as many medals – with at least one bronze in singles and one silver in doubles.

– 2024 seems to be my year, says Möregårdh in SVT. – Fantastic. Chills. This is what I am fighting for, he tells SVT.
