Truls Möregårdh had unexpected success in the Olympics in Paris. His two silver medals in table tennis caused a great echo around the world.
Now he tells what he has used some of the prize money for.
– I said jokingly that if I win a medal, I will buy it, he says in the “Framgångspodden”.
Silver in both the single and team competition in Paris. Not many had expected that ahead of this summer’s Olympic Games. But Truls Möregårdh22, stunned the world in his first Olympics.
Truls Möregårdh’s new nickname
After the championship, he has received a new powerful nickname over in China, where he has become huge in a short time. Since ping-pong is something of a national sport over there, they like to pay tribute to their idols with both cool, and sometimes a little strange, nicknames. Jan-Ove Waldner was, among other things, “The Evergreen Tree” for all his Chinese fans.
– They often give nicknames to players the players they like very much. Damn Zhendong (to whom he lost the singles final against) is called the “little fat man”, it might not be so kind, Truls has told Radiosporten.
His own nickname given to him is in any case more flattering and full of glory than that.
– I have started to be called “Mo-God”. God felt more fun to be called than the little fat man anyway. I don’t know how they figure it all out, he said.
Therefore, he left the girlfriend
Now that the Olympics are over, life continues as before for all of Sweden’s new favorite. A rather big change in and of itself is that he chose to leave Eslöv to move to Malmö. At the same time, he leaves his girlfriend Leah Muskantor in Eslöv.
– I’m enjoying myself so far. I just got a small couch and stuff in. So it feels very good, says newly moved Truls to Expressen.

– We haven’t been together that long and you’ve seen a lot of couples our age who move in together quickly and it goes fast and all of a sudden it ends. So we have chosen to go a slower route. We feel safe with that. It is close between Malmö and Eslöv and we meet every day, he continues.
Truls reveals his hobby
What does the Olympic hero come up with when he sits alone in his new apartment in Malmö? He tells in the “Framgångspodden” that he has a somewhat unexpected hobby. It turns out he shares a strong interest with the high jump icon Stefan Holm.
– I like building Lego. Passing the time at home with it, so I said jokingly… because it was so far from me winning a medal then… so I jokingly said that if I win a medal, I’ll buy that Eiffel Tower in Lego, he says.
– Now that I won, I had to look into buying one, but damn it costs 900 euros. Damn, that’s a lot of money. It’s like 150 centimeters high, so now I have to lie in there and buy it anyway, he says.
It’s nice that you completed the purchase and take the opportunity to treat yourself to things that you really want and that make you happy and motivated to continue.
You are a great role model for many, Truls. Thank you for a fantastic performance in the Olympics.
