When Zlatan Ibrahimovic invites you to a duel, you accept the challenge.
So thought Sweden’s new star shot Truls Möregårdh, who saw his chance when the former soccer pro showed off his ping pong skills on Instagram.
“I’m ready,” replies Truls.
Just a couple of weeks ago, we got to see how the pole vault phenomenon Armand Duplantis shouted the Norwegian hurdler Karsten Warholm in a hundred meter race. Perhaps it was the start of a wave of exciting duels in the sports world, with athletes blurring the lines and challenging each other in completely new disciplines?
Zlatan’s challenge
Recently opened everyone’s spring Zlatan Ibrahimovic43, for just such an island walk. On Instagram, the huge Swede can be seen playing table tennis in some kind of industrial or warehouse space. In the clip, you can see how the soccer professional – who now acts as an advisor to the board of his old club AC Milan – receives several ping pong balls that come bouncing towards him. To be fair, he strikes out quite a bit too, it’s not just clean hits.
“Challenge me”, writes Ibrahimovic in the text line of the video.
What has caused him to become so ping pong-free lately is difficult to answer. Perhaps it is thanks to the Truls hysteria that prevailed in August when the 22-year-old Scania Truls Möregårdh brought home two Olympic silver medals from Paris?

Trul’s cocky answer
There are close to 100,000 people who have liked Zlatan’s table tennis video – many have also commented on his technique and sense of play with a slightly smaller ball than he is used to.
There is also one person who seems to be really keen to go for a spin against “Ibra”. It is none other than Olympic hero Truls Möregårdh. He, if anyone, can handle Zlatan’s cockiness and give him a fair match. Honestly, the 22-year-old would of course sweep the court with the 43-year-old, which would be interesting considering that Zlatan is not used to being publicly humiliated.

“I’m ready,” writes Truls, thus agreeing to the football fan’s request.
The comment has received more than 1,000 likes, so there are more people than Möregårdh himself who want the fight to end. It remains to be seen how Signor Ibrahimovic responds to Trul’s retort.
Now we’re really keeping our fingers crossed that there will be a super duel between Zlatan and Truls in the future. “Ibra” cannot back down now.
What other star duel would you like to see in the future? Feel free to comment!
