Truls Möregårdh beats Armand Duplantis to win the Jerring prize

The Swedish sports year 2024 has been fantastic.
That is why it is so difficult to choose the winner of the Jerring Prize.
Now Truls Möregårdh gives his winner and knocks Armand Duplantis.

The sports year 2024 is coming to an end and it is time to sum up a very impressive calendar year for our Swedish sports heroes. The Summer Olympics in Paris are of course the big highlight of the year and it was Sweden’s best championship since Sydney 2000.

Who wins the Jerring Prize?

Recently, all the nominees for the prestigious Jerring Prize were released and there is a big overweight for our blue and yellow Olympic heroes. That’s where we find the big stars Armand Duplantis and Sarah Sjostrom together with Truls Möregårdh, Tara Babulfath, Victor Lindgren, Jenny Rissved, David Ohman and Jonathan Hellvig, Vilma Bobeck and Rebecca Netzler.

Among the other nominees is the orienteer Tove Alexanderssoncurling’s Lag Edin, the volleyball giant Isabelle Haakthe men’s biathlon relay team and the successful golfer Ludvig Åberg. It will be extremely difficult for the Swedish people to choose a winner among this fantastic bunch.

Möregårdh against Duplantis

When the guests involved get to choose themselves, the Olympic heroes Duplantis and Möregårdh are singled out as the given advance favourites.
– It’s one that stands out a little extra for me. It’s Truls, with what he did at the Olympics, absolutely incomparable!, says Olympic silver shooter Victor Lindgren to Radiosporten.
– Duplantis. One of the coolest sports moments I’ve witnessed from the stands. It was so cool, says double Olympic winner Sarah Sjöström.

But Truls Möregårdh actually nods Armand Duplantis when he himself gets to choose his winner of the Jerring Prize.
– An incredibly cool group to be around. I have to play a blow for Eslöv here and cheer on my Eslöv friend Ludvig Åberg. I hope he thinks the same so that someone from Eslöv can take this, says Truls to the radio channel.

But Åberg unfortunately lets down his Eslövskompis and would rather see another winner of the honorable award at the Sports Gala.
– I would have cast my vote for Duplantis. He broke the world record and it was pretty awesome, it’s worthy of a Jerring prize, says the star golfer in his answer and gets love back from “Mondo”.
– I say Truls and “Ludde”, I love golf and think it is so exciting that we have a Swede who is at the top and pushing for major victories, Duplantis replies.
