Trul’s Gisselman speaks of the support he received after the World Cup

World Cup debutant Truls Gisselman fell during his stretch in the men’s relay, but got to see his teammates arrange a bronze anyway.
When he was interviewed afterwards, tears came and he was supported by the other Swedes.
– Also nice to have people around them who care about one and who really show it, so that means a lot, he tells the Sports Bible.

Many Swedes raised their eyebrows when the men’s quartet was presented before the relay in the World Cup in Trondheim. Truls Gisselman23, replaced Calle Halfvarsson36, which became ill and forced to return. However, the championship debutant started strongly, until the end of the first stretch.

Truls Gisselman about tears in Viaplay

Then suddenly Trul’s Gisselman fell – as hitherto done everything in his power to shadow the Norwegian Erik Valnes28, in the lead – to the ground and lost precious time and occasional placement. It destroyed an otherwise really good distance for the 23-year-old. Fortunately, could William Poromaa24, and Edvin Anger22, solve a pallet place for Sweden.

In the middle of the joy stretched Viaplay reporter Ludvig Swan Fram the microphone to Truls Gisselman who had to describe what it was that had happened in the track. He became very emotional and tear -eyed. The words got stuck in the throat. So in hindsight, he explains that the emotions just poured him when everything had landed.
– It will be such extreme contrast when you first feel that: “Today I have a good day and good skis. Everything matches. Today I can go really, really fast”, and also feel all the way to the end that this is a good distance. “I can really be happy with this,” and then that happens and you are deepest down that can be, he tells the Sports Bible.

Got support from the friends in place

He says it was so quick fluctuations in both directions that he simply could not process his feelings before it was time for the Viaplay interview.
– When you get to the finish and just want to be for yourself and are very sad of course. And so it becomes a medal in the end. So there will be extreme contrasts as well. So there were a lot of emotions that came up or what to say. Is that what makes it a great experience too? That it was so great contrasts. You will really bring that with you as a memory, he says.

Already during the TV interview, William Poromaa, Edvin Anger Jens Burman pat and support his comrade. Truls got a lot of love from his teammates and the other riders in the national team, but also from coaches, family and friends.
– Yes, really. It is first and foremost my teammates and all coaches. I got very good support and it was very nice. Also nice to have people around them who care about one and who really show it, so it means a lot, he says.

Truls Gisselman thanks for the love

Other people have also contacted Truls to show their pity and to encourage him. After all, it became a World Cup medal in the end, you must not forget that.
– In retrospect, there have been so many many who have heard from both social media and via letter. From all possible countries really. And kind of just the other day when you are out with the car or something and then you meet a person you have never seen before and then they say: “Congratulations to the medal. Damn what a good run,” says Truls and continues:

– You get very happy when you realize that there are so many who follow the sport and check and cheer, but also who really care. So it is very cool to feel that there are so many who support one.

We are many who think you were doing amazingly well, truls. Not anyone could go in as a debutant, and also reserve, in a World Cup and deliver the way you did. You and your national teammates are so worthy of the bronze.
