Truckers’ strike: which roads blocked?

Truckers strike which roads blocked

Several roads were blocked on Tuesday March 7, 2023 by truckers, who joined the strike movement against the pension reform.

They in turn entered the dance. Until now discreet about the strike movements against the pension reform, the truck drivers decided to join the mobilization this Tuesday, March 7, 2023 with a means of action as simple as it is radical: blocking the country’s roads. Not the ring roads of large cities but strategic axes of medium-sized towns where the car is used daily to move around. Thus, since the beginning of the day, several such operations have been carried out in various parts of the country, paralyzing traffic at intersections that motorists can (almost) not avoid.

Blockages in the west and south of France

The day was not yet in its infancy that, already, this Tuesday morning, roads began to be blocked. This was particularly the case on the side of Rennes, where the road to Lorient was blocked from 3 am. Pallets on fire prevented motorists from circulating, before another interchange, at the edge of the ring road, was also blocked. Filter dams have also been organized in other municipalities in the west of France, in particular in Sablé-sur-Sarthe, Le Mans, Allonnes and Abbeville.

Further south, an “unusual” mess hit the A20 motorway, between Toulouse and Montauban. Shortly before arriving in the Tarn-et-Garonne prefecture, a traffic jam formed due to the blocking of an exit giving access to Montbartier, where a Casino logistics platform is located. On the Perpignan side, the two accesses to the A9 motorway were blocked until 9:30 a.m., before the dams were lifted. In the southeast, Miramas, Saint-Martin-de-Crau and Vitrolles were also the scene of snail operations.
