The Department of Foreign Affairs (DF) is extending its travel advisory for several areas in Ethiopia due to a worsening security situation.

What is new is that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises against all travel to the Oromia region. Exceptions are made for the city of Bishoftu and travel by air to the city of Jimma, where the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises against non-essential travel. New is also a recommendation against all travel to the Gedozone.

Since before, the Foreign Ministry advises against all non-essential travel to Ethiopia, except to the capital Addis Ababa.

In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises, among other things, against all travel to the regions of Amhara, Gambela, Benishangul-Gumuz, Somali, Tigray and Afar, all travel to the Konso zone and all travel within 50 km of the border with Kenya and South Sudan.
