Tropical Storm Beryl has strengthened into a hurricane, the US Hurricane Center (NHC) announced on Saturday. It also warned that the hurricane could strengthen very quickly.
Beryl is expected to bring destructive and life-threatening gale-force winds to the Caribbean Sea’s Windward Islands, which include Martinique, Saint Lucia and Barbados.
A hurricane warning is now in effect for Barbados. The hurricane is expected to arrive there on Sunday evening or Monday.
