During July to September, an average of 118,353 people traveled across the Öresund every day, just 0.6 percent fewer travelers than during the same period in 2019. This should be compared to the fact that travel during the first quarter of the year was roughly 21 percent lower than the same period in 2019.
However, travel is slightly different from before the pandemic – the number of commuters is down by 14 percent compared to 2019, and trips to Copenhagen Airport Kastrup are also down. On the other hand, tourist and shopping trips from Denmark to Sweden are increasing as well as freight traffic. Of the total of 10.9 million passenger trips made across the Öresund during the third quarter, almost half, 49 percent, were by car.
However, the rise may be temporary, according to the report, a decrease is seen towards the end of the period, which is believed to be related to concerns about recession.
