Injured at the Paris Olympics Senni Salminen a muscle injury has been found in the hind thigh of the right leg, which means that the triple jumper can no longer compete this summer.
Salminen, 28, hurt his hamstring during practice for the triple jump qualification on Friday. He received first aid at the competition venue, after which he was taken to the hospital for MRI scans.
Editor of Urheilu Petra Manner reported on Friday evening from the Stade de France arena that Salmis had feelings in his leg even before the qualifying match.
Coach Matti Mononen told before the qualification that Salmis had had challenges in the weeks before the Paris Olympics. However, Mononen did not specify what kind of challenges had slightly messed up Salminen’s preparation for the Games.
Salminen’s best result of the season was 14.01 from the Paavo Nurmi Games in June. At the beginning of June, the European skier from Imatra ended in disappointment in the qualifiers with the season’s weakest result of 13.54.
