Trio of impaired-driving arrests including one in a fast-food drive-thru: Sarnia police

Arrest made following stabbing in Sarnia

Sarnia police say they charged a trio of motorists with impaired driving this past weekend, with one suspect allegedly falling asleep in a fast-food drive-thru lane and another driving while four times the legal limit.

The first incident took place around 2:20 am Saturday when an officer stopped a vehicle after it sped on Indian Road and didn’t stop properly at a red light. The driver showed signs of being impaired, was arrested and taken to headquarters for testing, where results allegedly came back twice the legal limit.

Patrick O’Reilly, 62, from Sarnia is facing two impaired driving-related charges.

The second incident took place shortly after 2 am Sunday at the drive-thru of a London Road fast-food restaurant, where staff called police after a customer allegedly fell asleep behind the wheel and appeared to be impaired. The suspect was arrested and tests at headquarters also allegedly came back at twice the limit.

Janeva Paige Altiman-Peters, 21, from Sarnia is also facing two charges.

The final incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday, when a concerned citizen called police about a vehicle swerving on Wellington Street. A suspect was stopped in the area, arrested and taken to headquarters for testing.

“The test results indicated that the accused had over four times the legal limit of alcohol in their system,” police alleged in a statement.

Douglas Keith Workman, 27, from Sarnia is facing two charges.

The three accused have upcoming court dates.
