Trio charged with sabotage of protected objects in Östergötland

The prosecutor suspects that the trio broke into the civil protection facility to steal metal. They allegedly smashed several transformers to get at the metals – around 200 kilos of metal and 150 kilos of brass alloy.

The damage to the switchgear, which is deemed to be of considerable importance to Sweden’s power grid and electricity supply, is estimated to cost tens of millions of kroner to fix.

In connection with the destruction, 4,000 liters of oil have been spilled and some transformations will not be able to be repaired or will take a long time to restore.

The trio is suspected of gross sabotage, alternatively gross damage. In addition, they are charged with unauthorized access to protected objects and theft.
