    Tuesday’s triathlon is postponed one day to Wednesday. The water quality in the Seine is still not up to par, the organizers say.

    The rain that came this weekend has affected the quality and tests have shown both Sunday and Monday and now also Tuesday that the quality is not good enough to allow the participants to swim the course in the Seine.

  • Trump weak on debate against Harris

    Donald Trump gives unclear information about a possible debate against Kamala Harris.

    – I want to have a debate. But I can also say this. Everyone knows who I am. And now people know who she is, Trump said in an interview with Fox News overnight Tuesday.

    After being asked the question repeatedly, Trump finally said:

    – The answer is yes, it will probably end with me debating.

    – But I can also argue for not doing it.

    Trump has previously been more eager to debate Joe Biden and had accepted a second showdown with the president on September 10.

  • Police are charged with several crimes

    A police officer in Värmland is charged with several crimes, including for having stolen a colleague’s computer from the police station, writes New Wermlands-Tidningen.

    He is also charged with computer hacking and theft since he is suspected of stealing food from a grocery store and from an unmanned kiosk in the kitchen of the police station, NWT writes.

    The police officer is also suspected of illegally driving a police car even though his driver’s license was revoked. He denies any crime, the newspaper writes.

  • Woman raped in park – one arrested

    A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of rape on Södermalm in Stockholm. The crime occurred in Högalidsparken at 11 p.m. According to the police, the victim is a 35-year-old woman.

    The police have questioned several witnesses and had an operation in the park during the night.

    – The witnesses have reacted to these people and perceived the situation as a rape. They were able to provide a description and the man was arrested on the spot, says Jonatan Mekonen, commander at the police’s regional command center.

  • Fire in multi-family house – flames burst through windows

    A fire broke out at 11pm on Monday evening in an apartment building in Säffle.

    – It will burn with flames, said SOS Alarm’s spokesperson shortly after the alarm.

    According to a resident in the area, flames shot out of the windows.

    The fire was extinguished at 23.37.

    – No one was found in the apartment and no injuries have been reported either, says Annakajsa Gullberg-Dahl, team leader at SOS Alarm, to NWT.

    An alarm came in on Monday evening about a suspected drowning in the Haparanda archipelago, writes NSD.

    One person is reported to have been hit and ended up under water in connection with bathing from a beach edge.

    Rescue and medical personnel are alerted.

  • Protests when soldiers are investigated for abuse

    Nine Israeli soldiers have been detained in connection with an investigation into abuses against Palestinians in the Sde Teiman camp. This is stated by the Israeli military, which claims to have launched a preliminary investigation into the crime.

    But the decision sparked immediate reactions from mainly Israeli right-wing groups, and widespread protests began outside the military base in southern Israel where the soldiers are being held. Demonstrators are said to have also managed to get past security barriers. Police responded by firing pepper spray.

    Among the suspected crimes are sexual assaults against a suspected member of the terror-labeled Hamas movement.

    The Sde Teiman military base was converted into a camp for suspected Hamas members following the Islamist extremist group’s attacks on Israel on October 7.

  • Earthquake in Southern California

    A 4.9 magnitude earthquake shakes southern California.

    The earthquake reportedly occurred just northeast of Barstow, but was felt as far as Los Angeles, 18 miles away, according to Los Angeles Times.

    California is hit annually by around 25 earthquakes with a magnitude between four and five, the newspaper writes.

  • Man struck down with affection – taken to hospital by ambulance helicopter

    A 35-year-old man has been beaten by another man with some type of affection in Geneta in Södertälje.

    The alarm came in at 8.20pm on Monday evening.

    The plaintiff was taken to hospital by ambulance helicopter, but according to the police’s on-call preliminary investigation manager, should not have life-threatening injuries.

    Two men in their 40s have been arrested and are suspected of serious assault.

  • Man shot in Skurup

    A man in his 20s has been shot in Skurup, the police say.

    – The police find a man with gunshot wounds in central Skurup, says Evelina Olsson, police spokesperson.

    The man must be awake and talkative.

    – He has been taken to hospital by ambulance, but I don’t know anything more about the state of the injury.

    She says the police have a greater resource on site.

    – Right now we are looking for a suspect or several suspects. We search widely.

    Later, the police announce that they are filing a report of attempted murder.

  • Fire in apartment building

    There is a fire in a basement in an apartment building in Helsingborg.

    The fire has not spread to any apartments, but residents have had to evacuate the building.

    – I do not know how many residents are involved, says Evelina Olsson, press spokesperson at the police.

    Five people are in need of care.

    – I don’t know how serious it is or if anyone has had to be taken to hospital or if on-site treatment is sufficient.

    Police, ambulance and emergency services were called to the scene at around 19:30.

    The fire is suspected to be arson, according to the police.

    – It was an assessment we made together with the emergency services.

    An arson report is drawn up.

    The place is cordoned off.

    Emotional memorial for 14-year-old Emilia

    Landskrona residents honored the memory of 14-year-old Emilia with grave candles. Behind the memorial are Helena Larsson and Heidi Bergqvist. They have been very affected by what happened.

    – It is so terrible. I wanted to do this to show that we are thinking of Emilia. No one else has taken it up, says Helena Larsson.

    Emilia’s mother was also present during the memorial service. She was grateful that this was arranged.

    – It feels great that they wanted to do this. People I haven’t known since before. It’s nice that they think of Emilia, says Anna Sjöberg, Emilia’s mother.

    It was on the night of Tuesday 23 July that a police patrol found 14-year-old Emilia lifeless in an industrial area in Landskrona. They made resuscitation attempts but her life could not be saved. Now a 15-year-old girl is in custody on suspicion of murder. Another girl under the age of 15 is also suspected of murder. In addition, an additional person is suspected of aggravated protection of a criminal.

    On Monday evening, around 150 people gathered at the Town Hall Square in Landskrona to remember Emilia.

  • Rebels in the Congo risk the death penalty

    A prosecutor in Congo-Kinshasa is seeking the death penalty for 25 people accused of belonging to the M23 rebel group. Another person risks 20 years in prison if the judges follow the prosecutor’s line.

    The trial is attracting a lot of attention in the war-torn country.

    The Tutsi-led M23, with support from neighboring Rwanda, has placed large areas under its control in the eastern part of Congo-Kinshasa.

    M23 is one of many armed groups operating in the area. Among the factors driving the violence is the pursuit of control over mines with valuable minerals that are used, among other things, in the production of smartphones and laptops.

  • Five-year-old girl disappeared – has been found

    A five-year-old girl was reported missing in Bergsjön in Gothenburg during the afternoon.

    A large search effort is underway in the area.

    The girl disappeared around 4pm on Monday and was with several other children. When her relatives came out, the girl was no longer there.

    The alarm about the missing girl also went out to public transport.

    At 7 p.m., the police announced that the girl had been found.

  • FBI: Trump to be questioned

    Donald Trump will be questioned as the plaintiff after the assassination attempt he was subjected to in Pennsylvania, the FBI says.

    According to the agency’s deputy director Paul Abbate, they have still not managed to figure out the motive behind the act.
