Trial dates set for Windsor man accused of careless driving

A Windsor man accused of careless driving causing death will go to trial next year.

Brett Iler, 28, faces two counts of careless driving causing death and three counts of careless driving causing injury after a crash on Queen’s Line and Dillon Road on May 27, 2021.

The trial was set Tuesday for March 4-8 in Provincial Offenses Court in Chatham-Kent.

Iler, who also faces six counts of careless driving, was traveling east on Queen’s Line when his vehicle collided with a pickup truck traveling west. His vehicle then collided with an older model Buick with five occupants that was following the pickup, police said.

Two occupants of the Buick died at the scene, police said.

Three others were treated at hospital, police said. A fourth vehicle veered off the road to avoid the crash, police said.
