The trial against Johan Floderus, imprisoned in Iran since April 2022, has begun, says Foreign Minister Tobias Billström (M).
“Today I have been informed that the trial against Johan Floderus has started in Tehran,” writes Billström in a text message to TT.
“Sweden’s chargé d’affaires was present in the court but was denied the right to participate in the trial. Sweden has reacted against this and has requested permission to be present when the trial resumes,” continues Billström.
EU official Johan Floderus was arrested during a holiday trip in Iran on April 17, 2022, accused of espionage.
So far, no charges against Floderus have come to light.
