Tre Kronor has got a dream start at the WC.
Now comes the next message of joy for Sweden.
Two NHL stars strengthen the squad.
Johan Garpenlöv and his Tre Kronor could not have imagined a better start to the WC. There have been four wins in as many matches, and Sweden tops its group.
Tre Kronor’s dream start
Austria, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom were dismissed in that order. Planned victories for Tre Kronor, but on Wednesday night they made an impressive effort against the home nation Finland with a huge crowd support behind them.
It was 2-2 after full time, and the match would be decided on penalties. Then the Three Crowns straw was sharper than the fins. Magnus Hellberg saved all penalties, and made sure that Sweden conceded the extra points.
And just hours after the announcement of strength against Finland, the next dream announcement comes for Sweden. Johan Garpenlöv’s squad is strengthened with two more NHL stars.
They strengthen
It’s goalkeeper Lins Ullmark, Boston Bruins, and defender Marcus Pettersson, Pittsburgh Penguins, who join. Tre Kronor reports this on their Twitter account.
The additions also mean that more players can leave the squad. Oscar Dansk and Frölunda duo Christian Folin and Elmer Söderblom have done their part this time.
It also means that only one place remains on the forward side. Johan Garpenlöv hopes that William Nylander fills it, and said on Wednesday that it is “50/50” that the Toronto star joins.
