A suite that was extended after the victory against Latvia in the last group game. Now the quarterfinals await.
Tre Kronor has really exceeded expectations during the WC’s group games. No team has managed to win against Johan Garpenlöv’s men after regular time, while Tre Kronor took impressive victories.
Ready for the World Cup quarter
Especially the one against the home nation Finland where Sweden was the straw sharper during the penalty shootout and hit the Finns who had a whole sea of spectators in the back. The only loss came against the United States last weekend, where they lost in overtime.
Tre Kronor was already ready for the quarter-finals before the match against Latvia. Everything was about Sweden securing a top two place in the group, and possibly passing Finland in the table.
But Tre Kronor had a hard time getting a hole in a hard-fought Latvia, who were whipped to win to have a chance to advance to the final phase of the tournament.

But in the second period, Tre Kronor got the lead goal. It was William Nylander who struck in powerplay, and accounted for his fourth point in two games.
The result lasted the period and Tre Kronor went to rest between the second and third period in the lead.
It was Tre Kronor, just like in the first two periods, were dominant and leading on the ice. But Sweden once again had a hard time getting a hole in the Latvian goalkeeper.
But towards the end of the third period, Latvia pressed hard for a goal. With two minutes left in the match, the Latvians picked out the goalkeeper – but Tre Kronor and Linus Ullmark resisted and arranged three new points into the account.
