Tre Kronor has been in contact with former NHL star Daniel Alfredsson.
National team manager Anders Lundberg confirms this:
– Then whether it lands in any role for the staff is too early to say.
This weekend, Expressen revealed that the former NHL star Daniel Alfredsson is ready for a coaching role ahead of the major tournament in North America in February.
Tre Kronor’s message
For the first time since 2016, pure NHL national teams compete in a four-nation tournament with Sweden, Canada, the USA and Finland. Exactly one year before the Olympics in Milan where NHL players will also be there.
At a press conference on Monday, national team manager Anders Lundberg confirmed that contact has been made with Alfredsson, assistant coach at his old NHL club Ottawa.

However, he claims that nothing is clear yet.
– We talk to Alfredsson, we talk to Alexander Steen, we talk to scouts and to people who are in the NHL, says Lundberg.
Help Sam Hallam
Since before, Tre Kronor has former NHL stars Patric Hörnqvist and Joseph Boumedienne in the team management. They will be in the four-nation tournament along with the national team captain Sam Hallam and assisting Stefan Klockare and Niklas Rahm.
In the last WC, Tre Kronor for the first time had four coaches in the booth during the matches.
– It may be the case now that we are in an NHL environment that we feel we want to add someone who is used to working over there. Then whether it is in the booth or management (national team management), that remains to be seen, says Lundberg.
