Travelers to Japan are exempt from pandemic requirements

Previously, everyone coming to Japan had to certify that they had received at least three vaccination doses against covid-19, and were able to show a negative PCR test that was no older than three days.

However, people with covid-19-like symptoms, such as fever, still need to be tested in order to cross the border.

As of May 8, Japan will also lift other pandemic restrictions within the country, which included quarantine rules.

The announcement comes at the same time as celebrating the “Golden Week”, a period when several holidays fall in Asia. During this time, many Japanese take the opportunity to be free, and many tourists are also expected to visit the country.
