While Morocco has extended the suspension of flights to and from the country at least until December 31, the airline Royal Air Maroc is setting up special flights between the Kingdom and several countries including France.

[Mis à jour le 13 décembre 2021 à 08h56] the Morocco has decided to extend the suspension of flights to and from the country “until December 31 minimum”, according to a note from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. This decision follows the surge in cases of Covid-19 and the appearance of the Omicron variant. Passenger maritime links are also suspended.

Lhe national company Royal Air Maroc indicated on social networks that special flights subject to special authorization are scheduled from December 14 to 31, 2021, at departure from airports in Morocco and to France, Belgium, from Canada, from Spain, Italy and Senegal. The RAM specified that new special flights are scheduled from December 19 to 23, 2021, from Morocco and to Canada, Côte d’Ivoire and the United States.

Are Morocco’s borders open?

After months of a state of emergency and a stop to tourism in order to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, Morocco had reopened its air borders in mid-June 2021. However, the Kingdom made the decision to suspend the all flights from and to France from November 28, 2021 and until December 31 at least following the outbreak of Covid-19 cases in France.

The airline Royal Air Maroc, which has already started repatriation flights to Belgium, Canada, Spain, France and Italy, has announced the establishment of additional special flights to several French airports from 11 to December 13th.

Royal Air Maroc recalled in a press release that all these flights are “subject to special authorization”. Any traveler to France must “be provided with the negative result of the PCR or antigen test carried out less than 48 hours before the departure of the flight. A sworn declaration is also compulsory certifying that the traveler accepts to be tested on his arrival at the airport. These measures are applicable to persons aged 12 or over and supplement the current conditions of access in France “.

Unvaccinated French (and other foreigners) passing through Morocco must carry out a 10-day controlled quarantine, at their expense, in one of the structures previously designated by the Moroccan authorities, with a control PCR test on the 9th day.

The Moroccan government announced in mid-November the lifting of the national curfew in force for more than a year because of “the improvement of the epidemiological situation” in the kingdom. This decision follows “the positive results achieved within the framework of the national vaccination campaign”, explains the government in a press release.

Restaurants, cinemas and theaters, as well as public swimming pools, have again reopened in Morocco. Wearing a compulsory mask remains compulsory and police checks have been stepped up in recent weeks in various cities across the country.

All the beaches in Morocco are officially authorized to access, while respecting physical distancing.

Flights will be operated in both directions (France-Morocco and Morocco-France) since the reopening of Morocco’s borders on June 15 by French and Moroccan airlines which should be contacted for all reservations and information. It is therefore no longer necessary to go through the French consulates to travel by plane.
