Actually, from March 4, 2025, the free transfers from the old 32-bit to the new 64-bit servers from Lord of the Rings should be possible. However, the big rush of players thwarted the developers’ plans.
How did the transfer phase go? The second phase of the provision of new 64-bit servers for Lord of the Rings Online was supposed to start on March 4, 2025, at 6 p.m. Then all players with their characters should be able to move from 32-bit to 64-bit worlds free of charge. The new worlds themselves should still remain closed.
However, the plan did not work. First there was a short delay because the Legacy servers were offline, which was not possible to transfer. When the transfer window then opened, so many players tried to register for the character parade that the system collapsed within a very short time.

How did the developers react? First, the HDRO team reacted to pause access to the transfer assistant in order to give the system the opportunity to process all current transfer requests. Later they opened the assistant again for new transfer requests.
Since the rush is significantly higher than the developers assumed in advance, they also expand the transfer window for the free switch to a new 64-bit server by March 6, 2025.
How is the status quo? A look at the official forum on Lotro.com shows that there are still many problems. For example, various players report that their characters should continue to be on the old servers despite the transfer confirmation. Others continue to wait for their transfer to be processed or that they can initiate the transfer. What about you?
Incidentally, the developers of Lord of the Rings Online have published a comprehensive FAQ on the new 64-bit servers. MeinMMO summarizes the most important thing: MMORPG to Lord of the Rings gets modern 64-bit servers for everyone-you have to know that
