Many relatives were there today. Not only speakers, also people in the audience came to remember relatives. “I flew over from Australia especially for it,” says Erik van der Wal. He and his sister Marja commemorate their father, who was imprisoned in Kamp Amersfoort. He was one of dozens of people who were taken to Scheveningen as hostage-takers after April 19. “He lived in total fear for eighteen days, after which he spoke little about it,” says Erik.
