One of the main demands from the protesters is that the government should make it easier for LGBTQ people to find work and live in security.
“A quarter of a century after decriminalization, we still live under threat, especially we trans women,” said Malony Chavez, representative of a transgender organization in the capital.
According to Chavez, not much has changed since decriminalization.
— We are still belittled by the police, beaten by the police, raped by the police.
Some of the protesters held up placards with slogans such as: “Being trans should not mean a death sentence” and “Trans happiness is beautiful”.
