In France, two trams collided in a tunnel in Strasbourg on Saturday, authorities say. According to preliminary estimates, at least twenty people have been injured in the accident. The severity of their injuries was not immediately known.
Local authorities in the area were not immediately able to say the cause of the accident that happened near the Strasbourg train station.
A reporter from the news agency AFP said from the scene that the area around the train station is isolated and there are numerous ambulances on the scene.
Videos posted on social media show two badly damaged trams, one of which appears to have derailed from the force of the collision.
Strasbourg has had no major tram accidents since it reintroduced trams in 1994.
